This little guy was just asking for it! For me to paint him, that is. Once again, the flora gave me more difficulty than the frog itself. This painting was done with hard pastel pencils, Rembrandt hard pastel sticks and then, near completion, the final touch was done with luscious Sennelier soft pastel sticks that a dear friend and art mentor let me use. Now I want a box for myself…
Red-eyed Tree Frog on Seed Pod. Pastel pencil, hard and soft pastel sticks on black pastel paper. Original art size 24″ x 30 1/4″ (60cm x 77cm) including double mat surround. Original available for purchase (just contact me) and archival art prints available here.
A lot of my inspiration comes from flora and fauna (especially tree frogs!), many of which are endangered or their existence threatened by human encroachment, reduced habitats or pollution. Therefore, when you purchase any of my animal paintings, I donate a portion of the sale to The Wildlife Conservation Society. WCS is the world’s preeminent science-based conservation organization, founded in 1895.
